Why are the Blue Jays wearing Black uniforms in 77 degree weather?
I really don’t get this wearing of Black as an Alternate uniform in Baseball. With Football it is different because they play mostly in cooler temperatures or in a Dome when they wear Black, i.e. the Falcons, Lions, Raiders, Panthers.
On MLB teams, the starting pitcher chooses the uniform top to be worn for that game. Perhaps Cecil feels he’s had success with the black tops in previous games.

Remember, the pitcher is suffering the most from the heat – although 77 degrees is not that high of a temperature.

I also located an article on Yahoo about the Twins following this habit. I know for a FACT that the Cubs starting pitchers do choose the uniform of the day. This is why when Zambrano is starting, the Cubs always wear their blue tops – home or away.
As with many things, what may have happened 70 years ago, is no longer the ‘fashion of the day’.
Unless someone finds a reference of how the Jays uniforms ae chosen, I’ll stick with my answer.
