Is there any way you can block your address from getting any mail from random inmates in state prison?
It’s getting really annoying how random people from jail mail me asking me to be their penpal. Can someone give me details on how to stop this.
Hello Jen. This is a standard procedure for harrassment in the prison system. Call or write the prison, addressing the Administrative Assistant.
The letter you receive will have the inmate’s name and number on it ( so you can write him back). Give this name and number to the AA and request that the inmate does not contact you again. The inmate will be given a direct order never to contact you again or he will face charges of harrassment.
The only problem is you cant ask for a blanket order. It MUST name the inmate directly. If you are getting several of these from different inmates, it probably stemmed from just one that you know or knew and he is purposely doing this (giving your address out to other inmates). You know best if you know anyone inside the wire, but if you can ID the individual, name that person to the AA and it will be turned over to the prison Investigator for further action.
