Cardiff Castle

Cardiff is the capital city of Wales and offers visitors an array of action packed activities to make the trip one to remember. From top class shopping to every imaginable type of entertainment, this Welsh hotspot has its fair share of unique attractions, of which Cardiff Castle is one.

One of the country’s leading heritage attractions, Cardiff Castle has been witness to more than 2000 years of history and is nestled amidst parklands in the heart of the Welsh Capital.

The castle is the fusion of several different types of architectural style; a Roman fort, a classic Norman fortress and a Gothic-Victorian restoration.

The Roman fort at Cardiff Castle was estimated to have been built around 50 AD and you can still view the remains of the Roman wall.

Until 1766 the castle passed through the hands of many families until the Bute family took ownership through marriage. Coincidentally, the second Marquess of Bute was responsible for turning Cardiff into the world’s largest port for coal exportation.

Architect William Burges was employed by the third Marquess of Bute to improve the castle’s lodgings. Richness and opulence were key components of his vision; stained glass, murals, marble and wood carvings were just a few of the transformative processes to take place.

The Bute family remained in Cardiff Castle until early 1900′s and following the death of the fourth Marquess of Bute, the family decided to give the Castle and much of its parkland, known as Bute Park, to the city of Cardiff.

The castle has fulfilled various roles over the years and was home to the National College of Music and Drama for quite some time. One of the most popular visitor attractions in Wales, the Castle continues to draw crowds year after year.

You can visit the castle for a walk around or take a guided tour to explore the handiwork of Burges and don’t forget to take a trip to the top of the building to sample some of the best views of the city. For an alternative night out you can also hire the castle for private functions or book a traditional Welsh Banquet to enjoy with friends and family.

If you are travelling to the castle by road, take exit 32 from the M4 and follow the A470 to Cardiff city centre. The castle is a mere ten minute walk from Cardiff Central Station so can therefore be easily reached if you are travelling by public transport.

I'm looking for some good radio stations in the county area of New Castle DE. Rock and classic rock favorite.?

I have been having a hard time find I enjoy listening to radio stations in this area. Any suggestions? I prefer to stay away from rap / hip-hop and rock for pop and classic rock.

It seems as if there really is not a good classic rock station in Delaware. All I could find is WRTX 91.7, at Dover, but it looks like a station pop … "I Kissed A Girl" is the number one is to your playlist. Maybe you can try to pick up a station NJ or MD. Ocean City should have some kind of decent season considering that it is a community of beach vacation.
