I went on a gruesome second interview that lasted 2.5 hours. The last half hour of the interview, I was asked to write a brief essay on my writing. I was given complete instructions on what to write about. There was also a background check form that was mandatory for me to complete before I left. Why would a company take the time to do a background check without offering me the position first?
That is how I hire. There’s no point in bringing someone in and having them step foot in the door if they are not eligible for hire due to something in their background check. It’s a legal risk to bring someone in and then you find out they have some type of conviction that could potentially put my business in jeopardy.
The employer is just covering their butt and making sure you are who you say you are. If you have nothing to hide, don’t worry about it. They’ll offer you the job after it comes back fine.
