Is It Okay To Send An Email To A Comic Book Creator?
I was wanting to be sure it was all right to send an email to a creator of my favorite comic book to tell how much I love the series he writes.
Sure. Why not? I’m sure alot of people do that. It’s like a form of fanmail…
New Details on Exit of ‘smallville’ Creators
Just very recently, the viewers of CW’s hit series Smallville were surprised with the news that creators and executive producers Al Gough and Miles Millar wont be onboard for the show’s eight season. In an open letter to the public, the two delivered their goodbyes but gave no details on why they are resigning, leaving many of the followers speculating on what really happened between the network and these two.
Michael Ausiello of TV Guide wrote new details in his column regarding Gough and Millar’s exit. According to Ausiello, he has spoken with credible sources from the CW, Warner Bros. ans Smallville itself, and he has been told that the two main issues were money and movies. He added that Warner Bros. apparently weren’t offering enough talent fees and at the same time, their responsibilities and the time demands of Smallville kept them from committing to big screen projects.
Al Gough and Miles Milar were two of the brains behind movies like Lethal Weapon 4, Shanghai Knights, Spider-Man 2, Herbie Fully Loaded and the upcoming The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. On TV, they wrote for Aquaman, Timecop, Martial Law, The Strip and Black Jag.
Ausiello also wrote that his sources stressed on differentiating Gough and Millar’s exit from that of Palladino’s team on Gilmore Girls, which happened two years ago. “Amy (Sherman) and Dan pretty much wrote and/or directed every episode of GG right up to the day they packed up and left, Al and Miles have been relatively hands-off in recent years, leaving much of the work to Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson,” wrote Ausiello.
The four writers will be taking over the show once season 8 starts, as announced by the network. Ausiello also pinted out that since the four of them will now be running the show together, the transition will be a seamless one. As for CW, this was shat they had to say: “Al Gough and Miles Millar have been great partners and instrumental in the development and success of ‘Smallville. While we are sad to see them go, we are very excited to announce that executive producers Darren Swimmer, Todd Slavkin, Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will helm the show next season. [They] have been writing for the show for the past six seasons, and as producers for the last four years, they have played an integral role in the ongoing creative evolution of the series. As showrunners, they will continue to deliver the compelling storytelling that ‘Smallville’ fans have come to expect and love.”
