Does the ufc fighters use 70 pound heavy bag or the 100 pound heavy bag?

You use a number of different bags and types of bags depending on what you are working on and doing if you can. This allows a person that is training to develop their skills more fully while also reducing the risk of straining something or developing injuries from training. Generally the larger the circumference of the bag the better it is on your wrist for instance and the easier it is to make solid contact on jabs and straight punches. However a bag to big and working on your hook can cause shoulder problems if you are not positioning yourself correctly in relation to it and pulling your punch into it rather than pushing that hook into the bag to make contact. Also working on a right cross is harder on a larger bag that is wider.

A heavier bag will develop your power a little more than a lighter bag while a lighter bag will develop the speed of your combinations a little better. You can sometimes strain your wrist when practicing uppercuts and it is much harder to develop that punch on a regular heavy bag so you use an uppercut bag.

Practicing round house kicks on a bag to large makes it harder for you to get your hip into the kick sometimes especially if the bag is wide or large. So you will see a variety of bags of varying sizes, weights, and even shapes that are used in a good gym for training fighters. If you are a larger framed, bigger type person I would go with a 100 pound bag especially if you are going to throw kicks if you thinking of purchasing one. The problem is hanging them and the momentum they build as they bounce, jerk, and swing around and the stress that it puts on what they are hanging from. You may want to consider a free standing bag and those can me filled with water or sand to keep them from tipping over. At my school we use both free standing as well as hanging and I have several sizes just for the above reasons.
