When a large company like Citigroup has huge write-downs, how does this affect your Investment in shares?

If I am a big company like Citigroup and scored $ 24 million in lost business of subprime mortgages, or tell me to do, where I can get the cast to keep my business running? I have to sell my shares in companies such as Mosaic and Navigation dry, and Monsanto and Apple and Rimm to get some cash operating?
