Knights Kingdom

Knights Kingdom
In the United Kingdom, are there alive many knights who were knighted by George VI?

Elizabeth II has been queen since about 1952. The vast majority of her subjects cannot remember another monarch. Since most knights are well into their adulthood before receiving that honor, any who were knighted by George VI must be well over the age of eighty. Any statistics on this?

Of the Knights of the Garter, only two are alive who were knighted by George VI: Elizabeth II and her husband! Of course, Elizabeth isn’t just a Lady of the Garter anymore since her British honours vanished when she became queen. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Knights_and_Ladies_of_the_Garter

That’s only one order and the Queen and Duke were particularly young at the time AND royal. Usually commoners had to have enough life experience to achive something to find their way into an order in those days.

My guess is no, there aren’t many knights alive who were knighted by George VI. I have been unable to find statistics.
