Do kids still building model airplanes, cars, boats? Or old guys now?

I am thinking particularly of plastic kits, as if built when I was a child, but also wood (for ships and planes from balsa) and / or metal, etc, etc etc. I know there are a lot of Lego and games and sets magnent Zoobs construction and so on. Do kids build passenger jets (737, 777, A320, A380, etc.) or combat aircraft (F/A-18, F-15C, Su-27, Harrier) or cars (Mustang! New Beetles, Honda Civic)? Thank you.
