Can anyone recommend a build "their own robot kit" for my hubbies 40th birthday?
I looked in robotics and Lego Mindstorms Nxt VEX design – but do not know which is better. Any ideas? Am I missing something else?
I'm not familiar with the system of VEX, but I bought my 10 years of age, a Lego Mindstorms Nxt kit this past year and have enjoyed every minute of it. 
And … I have 41 years. I just saw briefly in the online VEX and an immediate difference I see is that you have the option of using a radio console controller to manually control the robot's movements – as opposed to rely solely on pre-programmed instructions. This is not something that comes with the NXT system, but can be programmed to accept the entry of bluetooth devices. I loved playing with LEGO as a child and that love for LEGO has never ended. I really like the NXT. If you go to the next has a great price on Amazon it. $ 211, I think. Link is down.
