How would I measure a gear system’s efficiency?

I’m doing a lab on gears and I will be Using Lego robotics. I was wondering how I could measure the gear system’s as well as the motor’s efficiency. I have a spring scale and meter stick available to me. Also if you have any other knowlegde of the relation between torque, gear ratio, acceleration, and so forth it will be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your time and responses.

I’m not familiar with the Lego robotics system, but the basic relationship between torque and acceleration is given as:

Torque = Inertia * angular acceleration

So, if you can put a known power into one side of the gear train and measure the change in angular acceleration with a stroboscope on the other side of the gear train, you will be able to determine the gear train efficiency.
