Ghost Shrimp needs?
I found a tank of ghost shrimp at my local PetCo the other day, and i was wodnering what their basic needs are. I have 2 tanks:
- one 1g tank with two white clouds (no filtration or heat or anything, theyre both tiny still, so they fit fine, but when they are full grown (about 1 1/2″, right?) ill put them in a 2g or 3g)
- would a ghost shrimp survive in this tank? i dont know much about them.
- one 10g with a swordtail, a gourami, a betta, a dojo loach, an otto, and a bamboo shrimp. (together they add up to like 7″ of fish and about 1.5″ of shrimp) (btw, this tank has a heater, filter, light, plants, rocks, Lego hiding places, gravel, etc.)
- can this tank have ghost shrimp? would any of my fish eat them? how many could i get? i dont want to overcrowd the tank.
The white clouded minnows will not be happy in anything other than a 10 gallon, they need filtration, but as a sub-tropical fish, they don’t need heaters.
They’re also shoaling fish and do best in groups of 5 or more.
Your 10 gallon is over crowed as it is, and the Betta and gourami isn’t a good mix. They’re similar fish and they may start fighting.
Swordtails like groups too, around three of them. I wouldn’t get anymore fish or shrimp until you have a larger tank, 20 gallons at least.
