Set Frees
What exactly did Jesus set us free from on the cross?

There is a lot of talk about Jesus setting us free, but free from what? I know there’ll be the answers like ‘Satan and his lies’ and that sort of thing, but why weren’t we free from that anyway? How did what happened on the cross actually set us free?

He set us free from enslavement to sin and death. Without his sacrifice, humankind would just continue indefinitely in the loop of being born, living a short while, and then dying. What he accomplished was offering himself as a “corresponding ransom” to counter what the first man, Adam, did: namely buy back the opportunity for man to live forever in perfect health on a paradise earth. When Adam sinned as a perfect man, he lost that opportunity for us. Jesus’ sacrifice will get back what Adam lost.

Convicted, Then Set Free

Don’t think hiring a Plano defense attorney is in your best interest? Think again! Around 10,000 people each year are wrongfully convicted of a crime. Everyone is human, yes, even law enforcement and with that come errors. Evidence may point them in a certain direction and then the true focus is lost from there. When hiring an attorney you then have someone on your team that knows the law and understands the situation at hand. The correct maneuvering can then be done within the court system to best defend you.

Still not sure if you need a defense attorney? Let me share a few stories with you. Joseph Burrows was convicted of murder in 1988. The actual killer had pointed the finger at Mr. Burrows, Gayle Potter. His friend who had mild mental retardation was intimidated and falsely stated that Mr. Burrows had killed the victim. After many years, volunteer defense attorneys had discovered that a letter and Ms. Potter confessed that she robbed the store and shot the victim to obtain drug money. In another case, Mr. Lawson was convicted of murdering an 8 year old boy based on a bloody shoe print. Mr. Lawson never denied it was his shoe print, just that when he discovered the body is when the shoe print took place. The alternative suspect died before he could be questioned or tried. With volunteers, Mr. Lawson was finally exonerated of the crime.

When the law permits you have the right to an attorney, why would you refuse? Protect yourself by obtaining a good lawyer. So many mistakes can and are made after an arrest. Always state that you want a lawyer, not out of guilt, but to protect yourself. Unless it is a court appointed attorney, keep in mind they will require a retainer payment. This is a set amount that will ensure that you both have a binding agreement. Remember to always, always tell your attorney the truth. If you want your attorney to defend you properly, be honest. Although you may feel that insignificant facts may not be important, let your attorney make that decision. A simple fact may be the item that clears you! Many useful tips are available on line to assist you in deciding which attorney is best suited for your case.
