GI Joe Costumes For Halloween

G.I. Joe is a media franchise that made the G.I. Joe cartoon series and G.I. Joe animated movies from the 80s, from which the now-famous articulated toy figures are based. The franchise has hit the big screens recently, with the live-action movie G.I. Joe – The Return of Cobra. The action figures and other merchandise, as well as the films and cartoons themselves, were produced in part by international toy giant Hasbro.

The first line of toys embodied the four different branches of the United States Armed Forces. These four toy lines are the Army Action Soldiers, Navy Action Sailors, Air Force Action Pilots, and Action Marines. The “G.I.” in G.I. Joe stands for the phrase “Government Issue”, which was a generic label for many ground-force U.S. soldiers, even before the toy line was created. The manufacture of G.I. Joe toys actually birthed the term “Action Figure”.

The Hasbro toy company, under the trademark “G.I. Joe,” created two distinct toy series. The initial toy line comprised various 12-inch action figures that were made towards the “realistic’ aesthetic, compared to other toys of that time. The Palitov company of the United Kingdom licensed this line and distributed it to the public as Action Man figures. 1982 saw the line’s relaunch into what we know as G.I. Joe toys today. The well-articulated, 3 and ¾-inch toys were complemented by playsets, vehicles, and a fleshed-out back story, depicting the war between G.I. Joe and Cobra Command.

The recent G.I. Joe movie saw the development of more sophisticated looking costumes, backed up by seemingly improbable military technology. The wondrous armaments from the film saw camouflage suits based on camera technology, accelerator suits that amplified the strength and reflexes of the already formidable wearer, and lightweight liquid armor able to withstand almost any blows. The stuff may sound farfetched, but these technologies already exist.

You can get replicas of the G.I. Joe movie costumes and various accessories in adult and kiddie sizes. You can get the perfect G.I. Joe costume for Halloween or any fun occasion. Come to the party as Storm Shadow, Duke, Freefall, or Snake Eyes, with several styles per character to fit any budget or theme. Complement your outfit with a large armory of weapons and other accessories!

You can get a Snake Eyes costume, with the ninja cowl, gloves, and tight overalls, in Child and Deluxe Kids styles. You can also become the villain with a Storm Shadow outfit. Add authenticity with Deluxe Strom Shadow gloves, Ninja Swords, and kid-friendly G.I. Joe Ninja Stars. Other character costumes are available, such as the nefarious Doctor Mask, which comes in adult sizes only.

What did you make of last nights Storm/Manly game?

I don’t think Manly deserved to get beaten by that much, but you got to hand it to Greg Inglis and Billy Slater, they just seem to come up trumps when it counts. But still they are a shadow of their former selves and i cant see them getting to the Grand Final this year, but what do you think?

I’m a Manly supporter and I’m concerned about our halves. Lyon shouldn’t have played, he obviously wasn’t fit, and Orford went ‘walkabout’ and failed to direct the team when most needed. I felt sorry for the guys who did try their hearts out.

So although the Storm played well they were made to look like world beaters by a team that was dreadful on the night – I’ll have to wait and see if they are as good when they come up against a more committed opposition.
