Trees Bushes
How close to the property line can you plant bushes and trees?

Does anyone know, possibly adding a website would be great. I’ve looked on the net and I can’t find anything. What is the distance a neighbour can plant bushes and trees to the property line between two houses?

Legally, you can plant right up to the existing property line. If you’re having a problem with a neighbor’s greenery encroaching onto your property, try discussing it with the neighbor. For example, if he has a large tree that overhangs and regularly makes a mess in your yard, I believe he is responsible for keeping it trimmed back from your property line. IMO, it’s always best to have a chat with the neighbor before planting anything near the property line. My rule of thumb is to always move back 3 feet from where I think the line is. That way, I know I’m on my own property, and this allows for growth of the shrub or tree.
