When does Star Wars: The Clone Wars take place?

On the Star War Wiki, it says the movie is at 22 BBY. But Anakin became a Jedi between 20-19 BBY and he got his facial scar for Ventress after he became a Jedi (which the scar is seen in Star Wars: The Clone Wars), so for him to be able to train Ahsoka in the movie, there’s no way it can be at 22 BBY. The whole movie and TV series has to be between 20-19 BBY.
Thanks, but I didn’t ask how to by DVDs. I asked when is all these events taking place since Star Wars Wiki doesn’t seem to make sense about it.
Augh! I know it’s a long time ago in a galaxy far far away, I mean what are the years (or months) that Star Wars: The Clone Wars (movie and series) take place?

This is the perfect example of the problems with the Wiki sites … information overload … in this case it has turned a relatively easy question to answer into a mindless mess of WTF are they talking about.

The first thing you need to know is that just because it didn’t happen in one of the movies … that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. In the movies the Clone Wars receives only a cursory mention in that it basically starts at the end of ep II, 22 BBY, and ends, for all intents and purposes, at the beginning of ep III, 19 BBY. The 3 year span between the movies is where all the Clone Wars animated stuff is set. Another thing to remember is that there are actually TWO animated Clone Wars series and the movie itself. Here is a time line for those events:

Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 1 Chapters 1 – 20
Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 2 Chapter 21

SW The Clone Wars animated series

Clone Wars Micro Series Volume 2 Chapter 22 – 25

SW ep III: Revenge Of The Sith

The Clone Wars Micro Series is the other animated series I mentioned. It ran on the cartoon network in 2003 & 2004 during the run up to the release of ep III.

SW The Clone Wars animated movie and series MUST be set after chapter 21 of the Clone Wars Micro Series because Anakin is elevated to the rank of Jedi Knight in chapter 21 of the micro series.

There will no doubt be some “merging” of stories in respect to chapters 22 – 24 of the micro series and SW The Clone Wars movie and series but it MUST be set before chapter 25 of the micro series because chapter 25 ends right where ep III starts.

The major problem with where everything fits in the time line is that the story is still being told. It won’t be until the current animated series comes to a close, it could be a while since that series is the highest rated series the station has ever had. Only then can the time line be “cemented”. My best “guess” as to where the movie is set in the time line is 21 BBY … an even surer bet is that Ahsoka will die at sometime in the run of the series because she is being set up as another of the “triggers” that sends Anakin on to his dark destiny as Darth Vader.

In the end this all falls under the heading of “Only Lucas Knows” … and he ain’t telling … sometimes I wonder if he even knows … lol …
