A bulid good army or the strategy of Warhammer 40,000?

Any suggestions for a point army 500-2000 decent build and strategy Imperial Guard to the top of the table games (not Dawn of War)? His Imperial suggesttions Guard did not have to use my army, but would be easier and more useful. As of now I have: 40 guards Veterans (4 squadrons) 10 Kasrkins (1 team) 3 platforms for Heavy Weapons (lascannons) two sentries Scout an armored Sentinel 1 Valkyrie a basilisk a Leman Russ battle tank firing a dream team commands (5 digits) 1 Company Command team (five digits) technology Priest addition to a squad of Grey Knights (5 figures)

Well, IG are soooo good in melee and have the best shot of any amy Warhammer (:. You just remember "ARMS HEAVY! many IG can carry more heavy weapons then any other army, advantage Thake. thereof. Put squads heavy weapons in their squads, heavy weapons on their computers. When you think you have heavy weapons more, add a little more. The idea is to creat a wall of fire that anything below a swarm endlessly threw it. And to make an effort to capture objectives and things to pull some troops from assault, special squads weapons, and some tanks. Do not become dependent on the armor, a lot of players IG done. Take a good opportunity to kill a tank (unless there are points structure), it takes ten shots to kill a platoon of men.
